The Skagit Valley Tulips are Beautiful!

We finally got over to see the tulip fields yesterday–breathtaking!  My favorite are the pink/mauve/purple fields.  Some tulips are not blooming yet and there are fields of daffodils still blooming.  Strange weather this year.  We will try and get to the display gardens today, both  Roozengaarde and Tulip Town.  I like all the little indoor shops at Tulip Town, and we usually have coffee and a muffin or something there.   I like their slogan:  “To God Give the Glory” — Can’t help doing that when you look at those gorgeous fields.  Roozengaarde is a great place to take pictures, their gardens are perfect.  See for yourself.  www.tuliptown.com    tulips.com

Tulip Festival Street Fair in Mount Vernon

This weekend is the street fair.  It is several blocks long and always has  lots of jewelry, garden art, glass and ceramics, clothing, food, etc.   It’s fun to walk around and the weather is good for it right now.  After that you could have the Kiwanis salmon bbq and then walk around the tulip fields.  I’m not sure how many are blooming now; they have been very late this year.  But I do know the Roozengaarde display gardens are blooming, and probably Tulip Town also.  After that come to Anacortes for a great dinner at Cameron’s or for a quick dinner and bowling at San Juan Lanes.  Always lots to do!

Tulips have started blooming!

I just checked www.tulips.com and they say the daffodil fields are in full bloom and one field of tulips is blooming already.  Time to make plans if you’d like to see them this year.  By next weekend I would think several fields will be in bloom.  Love to see them!

Tulip Festival Events

The big event of course is the flowers, but many other things are happening here in April.  April 9 Anacortes Wine Festival, April 16 vintage home & garden show in Anacortes, April 16 Paccar open house.  Paccar is the place where they test huge trucks and other vehicles.  It’s open to the public only for 4 hours, once a year, and is interesting (as Roger says) “even to women.”  April 15-17 Mount Vernon street fair.  All these things are within a half hour’s drive (10-20 miles) of Anacortes, making Autumn Leaves a convenient location for all the events.  Make plans now, we get very busy in April!

Tulip Festival All of April

Plan now for the Tulip Festival.  It runs all of April and there is lots to do and see.   Of course the flowers are the main event; the fields are breathtaking with magnificent colors.  Some of the other events: April 2 historic home tour in Skagit Valley (about 20 min. from Anacortes); April 15-17 street fair in Mount Vernon; April 16 Paccar open house;  April 30-May 1 garden art fair in Anacortes; month long quilt walk along Anacortes’ main street; April 2-24 Kiwanis salmon bbq in Burlington; April 10-11 Sedro-Wooley woodcarving exhibit.  Check our Things To Do page or  http://www.tulipfestival.org/site for more info, and plan to come and join the fun!
